There are a variety of vehicles in which to participate in order to achieve total good physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. It is a favorite subject of this Attitude Doc’s.
Master Yewon Hang from the Dahn Yoga Center in Sedona, Arizona advocates that to operate at our potential we need to keep the energy flowing through the meridians (channels that carry Life Force). As we wake up the dahnjon (power center) we prevent blockage in that system. It acts like a damn in a naturally flowing river. Dahn, or Korean Yoga utilizes three activities in their form of exercise: patting, stretching and vibrating. Quite an awesome experience.
In her book, Heal Yourself with Natural Foods, Nancy Appleton, Ph.D. says, “It’s how we deal with the stress that determines whether it will become distress.” She says disease is when we upset the body chemistry and that this is done as a result of a depressed immune system. To continue, “the first thing that happens is the minerals become upset and then the chain of events continues.” Dr. Appleton suggest that you could have the best diet In the world, but being under distress would upset the body chemistry and poor digestion would occur, resulting in “nutrients being less available to the cells and the partially digested particles could become toxic.” Out of that state a variety of symptoms would occur. Negative thinking also has an impact on body chemistry.
She goes on to say that the medical community tends to treat the symptoms rather then the cause, but she recommends the best cure is withdrawal. “Stop doing to the body what you did to make it sick and the body will heal itself.” Appleton’s words that “You are in control of your body’s chemistry balance through your conscious and unconscious lifestyle choices” would align with the book, Attitudes, Beliefs and Choices.
There are many books in fact that speak a similar truth; just as many seminars, workshops, trainings and classes. However, at times it seems that we tend to live our lives like we are guaranteed of waking up the next morning, brushing our teeth, having breakfast, going to work etc, etc. We take so much for granted, don’t we? What’s so is that life is so fragile. Maybe, just maybe, one of these books might have a life-transforming message for YOU. We truly only have the moment and in each moment we can choose the drama (doing energy, ego identification and control) or we can choose Being in the moment (Being energy, soul identification and surrender.) We can make conscious choices to desire and create a strong, balanced and healthy body as well as pay attention to the mind-body connection.

There is a certain sense of urgency for each of us to awaken to a conscious lifestyle. Choosing to take a reusable bag to the market, choosing to clear out the ghosts of the past (it’s not a daunting as you may think), choosing to stay in the present, choosing to love for self for the magnificent being that you are... it’s all about choice.
Affirmation
I am receptive to the power of choice that prevails in my life 24/7. In so doing I empower myself in creating a reality of happiness, self-expression and enlightenment.
Quote:
Awareness of impermanence is encouraged, so that when it is coupled with our appreciation of the enormous potential of our human existence, it will give us a sense of urgency that I must use every precious moment.
